"Once I had the heart attack I knew this was getting serious. I should have actually taken notice of what my body was telling me and done something about it way earlier”

For advertising executive Lyn, a serious heart attack five years ago was the wake-up call he needed.

Between balancing a successful, demanding career and family life, Lyn – like so many other Australians – didn’t have much time or energy left to invest in looking after himself.

I’ve always over-indulged. I love my wine and food. I got up to 125kg. That frightened me a bit

The now 70-year-old had lived with high cholesterol for many years, believing he was doing what he could to control it. Lyn experienced leg pain and felt generally sluggish but it wasn't until he suffered a heart attack that he fully recognised the importance of talking to his doctor about healthy lifestyle changes and ways to help manage high cholesterol"

Lyn’s message.  “For those people out there that have had a heart attack, like myself, and are still struggling to get cholesterol under control, keep talking to your cardio and GP”
