Planet
Sanofi has a long standing commitment to the environment. For many years, we have had policies and programs at all our sites that continue to strive for improvement. Within Planet 21, we continue to raise the bar by working to address topics like natural resources and climate change.
As a major economic player, Sanofi has adopted an ambitious policy to address climate change. The Group seeks to limit its carbon footprint by minimising greenhouse gas emissions and limiting energy consumption.
Sustainability Advantage Program
In 2009 we calculated our carbon footprint in Australia and New Zealand and identified three key areas of emission production – flights, motor vehicle fleet and energy consumption. Locally we have reduced our carbon footprint by actively encouraging e-meetings, reducing national and international business flights, promoting the use of our ‘Think Green’ logo on all paper bins at waste stations, on bags and all internal sustainability communication, and most recently implementing paperless workflow tools and processes for Accounts Payable processes. By the end of 2010 we achieved a CO2 reduction of 6.3 tons per person.
Sanofi Australia and New Zealand is proud to be recognised as a Bronze Partner of the Sustainability Advantage Program, a business support service from the NSW Office of Environment and Heritage Department of Premier and Cabinet which helps organisations to boost their environmental performance. Receiving this Bronze award marks Sanofi’s achievements and active participation in the Sustainability Advantage Program for a period of at least twelve months.
